The open source variant of Paros hasnt been updated for many years.

However there is an alternative in ZAP - its a fork of Paros and is being actively maintained.

http://www.owasp.org/index.php/OWASP_Zed_Attack_Proxy_Project

It supports new features such as passsive scanning, brute forcing (using DirBuster code) and a port scanner.

It has also been interationalized and has been translated into quite a few other languages.

Involvement is actively encouraged - all are welcome:)

The last release has been downloaded nearly 5000 times since it was released in January, and we're planning to release the next version in June.

The 'home feed' is free, so I guess it is in a bit of a grey area.

Hi,

Thanks for the info but it looks like there is a cost to Nessus, do you have a link to a free version? I will add Splunk though because there is a free version.

Thanks,
Jay
